day 3

every morning we seem to have the same problem. it starts with kristen and abby waking up late, then it goes to some weird breakfast food. but the main problem is always the GPS, dad and kristen are always wondering why it doesn't do this or that, or why is it doing that we don't want that. it's a constant battle and always a language barrier cause we don't even know what the world for castle is in german.
we are starting to get into a rythm, after we fight with the GPS we find the closest mcdonalds to get a coke lite. we stop at mcdonalds at least 3 times a day, just because they have ice. and come to find out me and abby have these nifty lunch trays in the back seat.
then we headed to neuschwanstein castle in fussen, germany. it's know as the walt disney castle. due to yesterday's experience kristen and abbys converse are now ruined. so today we had a new look going, none of which were okay...dad was carrying around a cheetah print umbrella and abby was wearing nikes with jeans...we'll get to kristen later.
of course the castle was very busy so we decided not to take the shuttle again and walk up to the castle, yes there was complaining about sore legs. the castle was beautiful, we went to the front and also to the look out bridge.
as we were making our way down from the castle kristen shoe choice (flats) became a problem. we weren't really sure what way to go so we just followed a cute young family in full hiking gear. well what we thought was a short cut ended up like this
and we hear kristen from behind saying "HONESTLY, these shoes were not cheap, they are expensive even at tj maxx. you know they are vince comuto." things didn't get better when we go to the car kristen decided to wipe all the mud off with baby wipes which turned them blue...as of right now kristen is 0 for 2 on shoes.
it wasn't just a struggle for kristen today. dad had a rough fathers day to. we left the castle and went to find some lunch, we parked and walked around looking for mexican food, and it's not easy to find in europe. but we finally found a place. once we sat down dad couldn't keep his eyes open, mid conversation and he was falling asleep. he blamed it on not having enough coke lite. once he got some food things got better until he drop couple nachos right on his light grey sweatshirt. as he was trying to wash it off he picked up a bright red napkin thinking that work. well his nacho spot then turned pink...
moving on from lunch we were headed to kaltenbach, austria. the GPS had a hard time finding it but between looking at the phone and kinda guessing we thought we were headed in the right direction but things got a little weird. we found ourselves paying to drive through what we think is a national park. the roads were very small, sometimes didn't even have lines. we drove along a really pretty river, the water was clear and a beautiful turquoise color. we ended up pulling over and found a bridge, some germans were there looking at 2 birds that they said were near instinct. sure enough we stomped down on that bridge as loud as possible and probably scared them away.
we thought this was cool, but it only got better as we kept driving through the alps. we keep getting higher and higher and the view was getting better and better
it finally got so good that kristen was hanging out the window trying to take pictures, but had a hard time not taking pictures of the guard rails, it was hilarious!!
we got to a look out at the very top
and took a few pictures as we got out to use the water closet (bathroom)
after that we headed down into the city and luckily found the hotel pretty fast. it is located right by a ski lift with a beautiful view. this is what we see as we sit out on our balcony
by this time it was time for dinner. dinner was included with our hotel and it was a five course meal, soup, salad, bread, meal, dessert. it was another very good meal, we couldn't be happier with the food. this restaurant was very nice and quiet. us americans walked in and everything changed. we were talking loud, spilling stuff, and laughing way to much. abby went on to tell kristen that her friend says "thanks mrs. t" kirt looks over with big eyes and says "your misty?" long pause... "what's that your pornstar name?" we died laughing and now kristen will always be known as misty
but we only laughed more from there. there were 5 flies flying aourns dinner and kristen was constantly grossed out. dad was killing them with knives...so funny
another strange thing over here is that not many have elevators and if they do they are very small. one elevator can't fit of us and all of our stuff in it.
once dinner was over it was about 8 pm so we decided to drive up as high as we could. we went up so high, it was a little sketchy, I'm talking straight drop off and room for only one car on the road, if a car would haven been coming the other way we would be done for. but it was so cool to go up there and see how peoe actually live and what their houses look like.  kristen was quite concerned with our safety we make it back okay !

we will head to vienna tomorrow at 9 am
