hello folks, I'm back for my 4th trip across the sea !! i love it more and more every time i come. there is so much history and beauty here in the EU/UK.
this trip i will be spending 10 days in England with my husband spencer, my mom Jan, dad kirt, and aunt Diane. what a crew !!! my dad has been here for 17 days already walking from C2C across England. for those of you who don't know i was able to fly over here on stand by so my trip began Wednesday night when i flew solo on a red eye to Newark NJ, i had a lay over there then on to London heathrow. luckily i had no trouble getting here which was a blessing. i arrived on Thursday at 8:30 pm in London where my dad met me at the airport. we headed to the hotel, we ended up eating at the hotel. i have been told many times to get fish and chips in England so although i am not a fish fan i thought i can handle those. so my dad and i shared fish and chips and a pizza. i was disgusted, the did not take the skin off the fish in my fish and chips. yuck!! i couldn't handle it. and the pizza was average.
after that we headed to bed, i was a little jet lagged and slept in the plane so i didn't get the best nights rest. we woke up the next day and enjoyed a Diet Coke for kirt and Fanta for me out on the terrace where we people watched. then we headed to the airport where we ate a pastry and waited for the rest of the crew. then off to rent the car, that took way to long but luckily we got a car big enough to fit all our luggage.
then we headed to the house kirt driving on the left which we were all very nervous about considering our past experiences in Ireland. but he did pretty good. the best part was Jan Diane and i sitting in the back seat. my mom was telling Diane about a tv show she likes and mid conversation i hear Diane snoring and i just bust out laughing it was so funny then Diane wakes up and says "what show are you talking about?" to say they were experiencing jet lag was and understatement.
we arrived at the house at about 4:30 it is seriously the cutest cottage ever !!! the kitchen dates back to 1460, so cool!!! Louise the owner showed use around and gave us some instruction. this cottage is so dated and all the doorways and wood beams hang so low spencer is constantly having to duck. so after talking about that multiple times. spencer came downstairs cruising right into the living room where we are sitting and hit his head soooo hard. we laughed and laughed while spencer was nearly i tears cause he hit it so hard LOL
kirt made us a reservation at the local pub. something interesting is these pubs around here only take reservations and even if there is open tables if you walk in they will turn you down. so round two, i order fish and chips cause i specifically asked Louise if there was skin on the fishshesaid no. sure enough the skin is on the fish like WHAT!!!! no more fish and chips for me, i wish i oils find some schnitzel but that's just to much to ask for here in the UK. but we enjoyed our dinner and I'm sure we will be going back to the pub another day.
after dinner Diane, Jan, and i headed up to the church right up the hill from our house, it is really pretty but what is the coolest is just all the unique cottages around this city of Suffolk. it's such a simple life here. we then ended our evening watching the World Cup while kirt served tea since he is basically a native now.
