day 4

Today started off rough, we woke up early and headed to the train station to head to London. Once we got there we parked the car and had to pay a meter 9.50 pounds for the day. Well the machine only accepted coins and we only had 8.60 pounds, after spending 15 minutes searching through our purses and trying to put American money in the meter non of that worked. Spencer and i went looking for change, we realized the next machine over took cards. All that for nothing. We should have realize that that was how our whole day was going to go.

The train ride went pretty good and we arrived in London around 11 am, and the walking began. We walked to London Tower with only one wrong turn! We hopped on a ferry ride that was included in our hop on hop off tour bus package. It was hot, but so far a great way to see the city. We're saw the London Tower, the London Eye,  and Big Ben which was a huge disappointment because the whole thing was under construction.

We proceeded to get on the hop on hop off bus which was a nightmare, sooooo many people and it was so hot. There was no room on top of the bus we were stuck in the bottom with no AC for like 30 minutes, i love the heat and i thought i was going to diet was awful. Finally we made it to the top where we enjoyed a tour through London. A few of the things we saw were the parliament, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace.

By this time we are start like to the point were everyone was mad, we could not find a place to eat at all and walking around London was awful there were sooooooooo many people. After lots of searching we ended up in the downstairs of a wine tasting bar where we had below average food and way two many cokes. The waitress said "wow, you guys drink a lot of soda." Yeah we spent a good $30 on soda at lunch, but on a hot day it was much needed.

Next stop was the Westminster Abbey, our plan was to go for a tour. We arrived at 3:20  and what do you know the church closes at 3:30 so no such luck there. Pictures from the outside will have to do. Next stop was the parliament building, we were hoping for s tour there also. Oh, nope tours are only on Saturday because today is a work day i so there are no tours. However, we were able to get into the parliament building to go watch a debate. This was an awesome experience. We had to go through quite a bit of security then leave all of belongings at a cloak closet. So we sat and listened to a few debates, of course kirt snuck his phone in and i borrowed it to take a picture.

Our next stop was to see the horse guards, we saw them earlier on the bus and wanted to get a picture of them. When we got there, no guards to be found and doors were shut. Our timing was really off or maybe everything just closes here way to early. One thing i don't like about London is the garbage, it is stacked up at every corner.

We spend the rest of the evening roaming around, shopping, having dinner, and trying to figure out there public transportation. Mainly kirt just trying to download and buy tickets on his phone which is way to hard for him. Over all we had a long but good day.
