day 2

a low key relaxing day today, everyone slept in so we didn't get up and going till about 10:30sh. Lousie our nice host left us with fresh strawberrys, eggs, and bacon (which means ham). So we cooked that up and it was delicious then we took a few more pictures around the house and garden because it is just such a beautiful area.

After breakfast we headed into a little village near by called Hadleigh, its a cute little place. We originally went there to go to the grocery store for a few snacks. Well, that turned into walking up and down the street looking at shops and churches. 

Eventually we made it to the grocery store where we got lots of good snacks. You have to buy grocery bags so we ended up carrying the groceries in our hands through the town. Spencer and Kirt went to the butcher and got pork chops and steak for us to cook up on the grill in the backyard. Also, driving through Hadleigh was a treat, there was multiple gasps coming from the back seat considering the roads were only wide enough for one car. Notice in the picture all the cars on the right are parked, leaving only one lane to drive and a car headed straight for us.

 Once we go back to the hotel Kirt just couldn't resist but to go on another walk because we saw footpaths through the fields. After mapping the path and a half hour of arguing about if we should walk on the very narrow roads or take a chance on the unmarked paths we took the paths for Jan's sake. We found our way through fields and fields to the Kersey Mill, it was probably only a
 1.25 mile hike, stinging metal all over. Jan was wearing Birkenstocks and me in sandals, not our best moment.

The Kersey Mill is a wedding venue, multiple boutiques, and cafe/tea spot. Kirt insisted we stop for tea. I was so bummed because we arrived at 2:45 and they stop serving lunch at 2:30 and there was no dinner options, only tea and scones. Luckily they had a bag of chips so that will have to do for my lunch. But Kirt and Spencer enjoyed tea while we all had a taste of scone, none which were to good. Spencer really enjoyed the cheese scone with onion chutney and Kirt enjoyed the berry scone with butter and rasberry jam. Jan and Diane weren't to pleased. But i enjoyed my chips and bubbly lemonade.

As we walked back we decided to take the road and luckily no one got hurt. We walked by the church once again where we stopped since the boys didn't attend yesterday. But we found out some cool stuff from the locals and enjoyed the view.

Something unique about this area in england is all the houses are named, each house has the name engraved somewhere near the front door. Our cottage is called the Cressland.

We concluded our evening with enjoying a home cooked meals and watching the world cup. what a great day!
