day 13

today was another rough day. not in terms of the bike ride but dad was sick. he wasn't feeling good and it was a struggle for him. we were all worried about him, he wasn't acting himself. he wore a shirt the other day that said "whatever it takes" on the back. so that has been his motto since we have been here, well it really came into play today. he was a trooper.
after a rough morning for dad we all made it to breakfast. no omelets today, just sandwiches. that was a disappointment. breakfast consisted of bread and butter. then we were on our way to visegrad, hungary. we thought todays ride was going to be about 20 k but once again we show up to breakfast and get bad news. we will be riding 41 k which is 25 miles, which is half the distance from yesterday but we obviously never recovered.
along the way we made a few stops but not as many as usual because dad wanted to get to the hotel as fast as possible. so a few drink breaks was all. i was truly concerned that dad would push it to far and pass out while riding the bike but he did surprisingly well. so the plan is to ride 41 k to esztergom then get on a ferry to ride the next 25 k to our destination.
we made it to esztergom in a couple hours, got some lunch and more ice cream. ice cream everyday is a must. then we headed over to the ferry to find out that it doesn't come until 4:30. it was 3:00. poor dad had to sit around in the heat waiting for the ferry. we thought it would be a leisure easy day but it turned into a long day.
once we got on the ferry things were getting better. we all sat on top and enjoyed the danube and the view while dad took a nap on the lower level bench. which was quite funny. people were trying to sit down there or stand down there to take pictures and dad was taking up the whole bench. but the ferry ride was really nice and very pretty. we were pleased.
we finally made it to the hotel at about 6:30. we all made it in one piece thank goodness. i gotta admit if it weren't for the germans we would be so lost, because we think one way an they think that other and they are always right. dad went straight to bed, and i decided to stay with kristen tonight just to keep my distance form the sickness.
kristen abby and i decided to just go to  dinner at the hotel just in case dad needed something. dinner was hilarious. you probably won't understand by me tying it. anyway the restaurant was a buffet but we asked for a menu because the buffet didn't really fit our liking. so we were pretty much being high maintenance. we thought the waiter hated us as first but then next thing you know he is bringing us free water. then we tipped him 400 forints and it was hilarious cause we honestly don't know how much that is. so then we slipped him another 500 forints and we still don't know how much that is. he probably hit the jackpot.

we went upstair to check on dad to find him in hibernation. it was so funny but so sad. i feel so bad for him, being sick sucks but being sick when you aren't home is miserable. hopefully we will get him feeling better soon. we decided to order him some room service. sure enough our waiter was the guy who brought the room service because he is the only one who knows english. he knocks on the door and we opened it and he barges right in, no privacy what so ever. so funny. then kristen starts tipping him again. the waiter tries to say no no and kristen says not really you deserve it. it was a riot.
all is well now. dad ate his dinner and he is doing a little better. hopefully tomorrow will be a more positive blog.
